David Grooms | Principal, AIA, LEED AP

Founder and Managing Principal of Vega Architecture, David Grooms is the client’s advocate. He is involved in all the firm's work and ensures the overall vision and goals for the project are being met.

With more than a decade of experience as an architect, David has completed nearly $41 million of constructed projects. He has developed a reputation as a leader within the design, construction, and development community. He is an accomplished manager and designer who seamlessly synthesizes the many requirements of various entities, making sure no detail is missed. David has designed a wide-range of building construction types, from mid-rises in steel and concrete to free-standing retail buildings. He has repeatedly succeeded in designing elegant buildings based on simplicity and economy. His designs are marked by innovation and detail that creates value for the firm’s clients.

David is a capable administrator with an ability to balance schedule and budget. He has excellent communication skills. Since establishing Vega Architecture, he has increasingly gained the trust of many high profile clients including St. Charles Town Company, Natural Grocers, MAVD, Leadership Circle LLC, and McPherson Development.

Laura Jean Yanoviak | Director of Virtual Design, AIA

One of the country's foremost BIM experts, Laura Yanoviak is at the forefront of architecture's move toward 3D planning. She is the driver behind Vega's cutting-edge technology foundation. As director of virtual design, Laura is a master at inventing new efficiencies to increase productivity. Clients appreciate her ability to create accurate and attractive construction documents while successfully conveying design intent.

Laura is a registered architect in the State of Colorado with more than twenty-five years of professional experience. Her considerable talents have contributed to a variety of architectural and planning projects in Hawaii and Colorado. Laura has also managed and assisted principal project teams on assignments ranging from large-scale planning and commercial office structures to custom single-family homes.

Ashley Lauran Fruhwirth | Project Architect, AIA, LEED-GA

As project architect, Ashley works with clients and Vega staff to coordinate projects, create drawings, and handle construction administration. On short deadlines she helps the team pull together and complete the project efficiently while maintaining Vega's exacting standards.

A Colorado native, Ashley has spent her career gaining architecture education and experience. In the DC area she worked at the retail-based firm Muvanny G2. In Colorado she has worked at architecture firms, a mechanical engineering firm, a “green” continuing education company, and a civil engineering firm. All of these past experiences give her the expertise necessary to ensure the high-quality experience Vega clients expect.

Chris Cosenza | Project Architect, AIA

Chris has more than ten years experience in the architectural field having completed a wide variety of projects types throughout the country as well as abroad. His wide scope of experience ranges from high end residential and assisted living to K-12 and higher education.

Prior to joining the Vega team, his main focus was specializing in competition aquatics and recreation centers, and sports arenas. Many of these projects required him to meet the exacting standards of the NBA, NHL, and NCAA. Chris is a thoughtful designer with an attention to detail that allows him to successfully convey his ideas to clients and contractors. He prides himself on being exceptionally organized, allowing him to successfully work with the appropriate consultants in order to ensure that his projects meet the clients expectations.

Adam Oklesh | Project Architect

With over a decade of designing, planning, detailing, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and executing projects, Adam is experienced with client services, preparation of schematic design documents, zoning and planning issues, construction documentation and administration.

Linnaea Stuart | Project Manager, AIA, LEED AP

With an interest in searching for unique projects in her field, Linnaea’s work has focused on the design and construction of cultural landmarks such as the Whitney Museum of American art in New York City, the Ethelbert Cooper Gallery of African American Art in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Princeton University Theological Seminary Library in Princeton, New Jersey. Through her collaborations with Renzo Piano Building Workshop and Adjaye Associates, her role as an architect and design builder has been cultivated and influenced by both the aspirational goals of these designers and the pragmatics of high quality building and construction. Her passion for developing great ideas into a built reality is based on thoughtful collaboration within the team, attention to detail, and creative problem solving throughout the project.

Doug Poppe | Planning Manager, LEED-AP BD+C, ND

With a passion for research, Doug Poppe is a natural at site planning and environment, and he has become Vega's in-house health department expert. He researches zoning and health codes thoroughly and ensures that all designs meet the necessary logistical needs.

A Milwaukee native who grew up in a DIY family, Doug knew from an early age that he wanted to get into an architecture-related field. He enjoys the challenge of finding the best, most interesting solutions for clients. He has proven success in hospitality and government service administration projects and worked with the City of Milwaukee to provide lead abatement grants and assistance to low-income, inner-city residents.

Christopher Grantham | Job Captain

With nearly a decade of experience in designing multifaceted projects, Chris is an expert at working with clients to design spaces that meet a diverse set of needs. His favorite part of the job is taking the concepts that emerge from working with clients and making them a reality.

Matt Zwetzig | Director of Virtual Design and Construction

Passionate about construction and improving efficiency, accuracy and quality, Matt draws from his 8+ years of experience in the construction industry to lead the pre-construction and estimating efforts at Vega. The 3D model information is applied to planning, analysis and estimating tools; providing the architecture team with a rich data set to make informed decisions maximizing the value of a design. Using the design models for estimating and analysis gives the Vega team rapid cost and performance feedback; decreasing iteration time and optimizing designs. Matt is leading the effort to bring the use of 3D models into Vega’s construction documents; in order to advance the transparency, clarity and understanding of each project for all parties involved. .

A Colorado native, Matt spent a few years in Denver working in construction management before he relocated to San Francisco, where Matt honed his skills in VDC working with a prominent contractor in San Francisco. During his time in California he elevated that firm to become a national leader of VDC. Matt brings experience in managing pre-construction and construction efforts on over $3.1 billion worth of construction within mid and high-rise residential and commercial, transportation, cultural, mixed-use, and sports venue market sectors. Matt has advised major software companies on how to improve their construction software products.

Sharon Otto, The Financeologist, Inc. | Office Manager

Sharon has a passion for supporting entrepreneurs. She is known by her clients as "The Financeologist" because of her ability to combine accounting expertise with emotional intelligence to support them on multiple levels.

A farm girl from Minnesota, Sharon truly found home when she moved to Colorado in 1986. She has held various finance positions throughout her career in addition to now growing her own business providing bookkeeping services, QuickBooks training, and coaching services to clients in Denver as well as East Africa.

Jeffrey Woodruff, Assoc. AIA, LEED-AP BD+C | Designer

Jeffrey’s contemporary work with Front Range arts and agricultural non-profits revived his interest in building and working with non-profit organizations to meet their missions through design. Jeffrey's hands on approach to design and building is seen in his interest in furniture making. His designs have been featured in Anderson Ranch publications and at the AIGA & Design Council of the Denver Art Museum's Chaircuterie.

Jeffrey’s career involved trading interest rate swaps, equities and money markets for global banks. Following proprietary trading desks, Woodruff created and marketed financial software where he spent time with customers in forty countries and developed solutions in over a dozen languages, including simplified Chinese (Simplified and Big-5) and Kanji. Jeffrey’s career and education path has led to multiple postings in the United Kingdom, studies in Israel and London, and extensive client development work in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the Pacific Rim. Jeffrey is a former Fellow (FSI) with the UK’s Securities and Investment Institute. He has appeared with the CEO of Microsoft to launch new product initiatives and has contributed to industry publications on topics from regulation to derivatives trading and to the role of the US Dollar in the global energy markets.
